International Data Week (IDW): an event to dive in the state of the art of data. Organised by CODATA, the Committee on Data of the International Council of Science (ICSU), the ICSU World Data System and the Research Data Alliance (RDA), IDW will take place in Denver, Colorado,  from 11 to 17 September 2016.

What this event is about?

The theme of  IDW is "From Big Data to Open Data: Mobilizing the Data Revolution”. It will be an occasion for data professionals and researchers from all disciplines and from across the globe to gain a 360 degree vision of the data landscape, exploring the state of the art and opportunities of data based research and innovation.

Who should attend?

Data scientists, researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers, and data stewards.

Why attend?

Participants will deep their knowledge and awareness on the data revolution, and find multiple answers to the question “How can data benefit society?”.

Agenda

IDW comprises three complementary events:

11-13 September 2016 - SciDataCon 2016: the conference will discuss the frontier issues of data in research such as the place of data in the scientific endeavour; the opportunities of the data revolution for the global research enterprise; the challenges of developing a sustainable data ecosystem, and more.

14 September 2016 - International Data Forum: starting from the theme “Data for the Public Good: Responsibilities, Opportunities and Dangers in a Data Aware Society”, the participant will have the opportunity to debate potential data-contingent transformations in civil society, government, health, education, and science. 

15-17 September 2016 - Research Data Alliance's 8th Plenary Meeting: the plenary include the highlighting of organizations who have adopted RDA’s outputs, meetings of Working and Interest Groups, exploration of new discussion topics, a marketplace for small and medium enterprises.
