Pole Mer Bretagne Atlantique

Created in 2005, the Pole Mer Bretagne Atlantique is a Sea Innovation and Business Cluster, located in the Western part of France. It has a current membership of more than 330, ranging from major companies, SMEs (50% of the members), research organisations to others including professional and trade investment bodies. Since 2005, Pole Mer Bretagne Atlantique has certified 208 collaborative R&D projects representing a total R&D budget of more than 650 M€ (including 170 M€ of public funds). Its main mission is about developing a competitive maritime economy by stimulating and encouraging innovation through collaboration around six major themes:

  • Maritime safety and security.
  • Shipbuilding and leisure boatbuilding.
  • Marine energy and mining resources.
  • Marine biological resources.
  • Coastal environmental planning and management.
  • Ports, infrastructures and maritime transports.

The main objective of Pole Mer Bretagne Atlantique within the BlueBRIDGE project is to facilitate and ensure the knowledge transfer of the project's results toward researchers, industries, including SMEs and to other research infrastructures. As a ‘triple helix’ cluster that has been acting as a catalyst of innovation since 2005, Pole Mer Bretagne Atlantique has a clear vision of the emerging maritime growth markets. Pole Mer Bretagne Atlantique is deeply involved in the cutting edge R&D activities of the maritime sectors. It possesses a substantial knowledge of maritime RTD capabilities and is willing to share its experience in order to consolidate RTD and business capabilities.
To fulfil this objective, Pole Mer Bretagne Atlantique will be in charge of organising several events such as training workshops that should promote and disseminate BlueBRIDGE services and tools to end users. Edition of brochure such as leaflet or even guides on services and tools will also be carried out. These activities in addition to e-Training material and webinars available on the BlueBRIDGE web portal should help end-users to evaluate their interest in the services and tools developed in the project as well as the benefits of them. As a business and innovation cluster, Pole Mer Bretagne Atlantique has a the relevant substantial membership of about 350 composed by large and small companies, research centres and laboratories, all working closely in the maritime sector.
