Collaboration type: Awareness creation towards policy makers

About ATTICA PREFECTURE  (REGION): Attica Region (Greek: Periféria Attikís) is an administrative region of Greece, that encompasses the entire metropolitan area of Athens, the country's capital and largest city. The region is coextensive with the former Attica Prefecture of Central Greece, but covers a greater area than the historical region of Attica. In addition to Athens, it contains within its area the cities of Piraeus, Eleusis, Megara, Laurium, and Marathon, as well as a small part of the Peloponnese peninsula and the islands of Salamis, Aegina, Angistri, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, Kythira, and Antikythera. About 3,750,000 people live in the region, of whom more than 95% are inhabitants of the Athens metropolitan area. ATTICA PREFECTURE (REGION) represents one of the most basic policy makers in Greece regarding the aquafarming development and control.

Short description of the collaboration & main achievements in the period: More than 8 managers of the Fisheries and Aquafarming Directory from Attica Prefecture participated in the dedicated one day workshop on aquaculture solutions in February 2018. During this workshop and its follow-up working seminar an interactive session of the practical usage of the SustainableBlueEconomy VRE taken place.

Plans for the future: Dedicated workshops and technical discussions with regards to the encapsulation of ICT technology and specialised solutions such as e-infrastructures and VREs are scheduled for the near future.
